The Julie L. Rogers Sabbatical Program launched in 2014 to celebrate the legacy of the Meyer Foundation’s outgoing president and her 28 years of leadership.

On October 25, the Eugene and Agnes E. Meyer Foundation’s board of directors approved 77 grants totaling $3,110,000 in general grantmaking, and four capacity-building grants totaling $103,450.

I never thought that in 2018, I would experience fear on the basis of being Jewish in the United States.

Earlier this summer, president and CEO of Latin American Youth Center (LAYC), Lori Kaplan, stepped down from the role in which she has served for 30 years. In Lori’s total 38 years with the organization, her leadership has solidified LAYC as a nationally-recognized, award-winning youth organization.

The board of the Eugene and Agnes E. Meyer Foundation, a private foundation in Washington, DC, elected James J. Sandman as chair and Charlene M. Dukes as vice-chair of the board at its June 5 meeting.

We recently completed our first round of grantmaking for 2018 at the Meyer Foundation! On June 5, our board of directors approved 73 grants totaling $3,205,000.

The Greater Washington region is a diverse community where immigrants, many coming from across our country’s southern border, have made their homes and are woven into the fabric of our identity. We at the Meyer Foundation are deeply troubled by the separation of migrant children from their families.

If you’ve been following the Meyer Foundation over the last few years, you probably know that we’ve been on a journey to gather input and greater context as we reframed the Foundation’s role in creating positive social change in the Greater Washington region.

In recent updates, I’ve shared how board and staff at the Meyer Foundation have continued working toward full implementation of our strategic plan. To advance that plan, we’ve hired talented individuals over the last few months.
