Meyer Announces a New Online Community Forum

September 4, 2015
Nicky Goren

We are pleased to announce the official launch of the Meyer Foundation’s first-ever online community forum. Over the next two weeks, we invite you to participate in a conversation that will help us refine our strategic plan and ensure that Meyer’s goals and direction align with our broader community’s vision for the future.

Earlier this summer, I sent out an open letter updating the community on where we are in the strategic planning process. That letter summarized what we heard from the community as the most pressing challenges facing the Washington, DC region: stable and affordable housingeducational attainmentemployment, and financial stability for economically vulnerable people.

When you sign into the forum you will see a short presentation outlining our draft approach to addressing these challenges, including drafts of the revised mission statement, strategies, and long-term goals. We hope that you will offer your insights as well as your honest and candid reactions to this proposed approach. We also encourage you to pose additional questions to Meyer staff and to other participants in the forum.

The online forum will be divided into two week-long sessions, each featuring a different set of discussion questions and polls. The first session, starting today, is devoted to discussing your general reactions to our overall direction. The second session, starting Tuesday, September 8, will feature more targeted questions around the goals outlined in the plan as well as region-specific topics. We’ll wrap up the conversation on Tuesday, September 15.

Meyer’s board and staff have been energized and excited by this process, and our team is looking forward to speaking with you online over the next several weeks.
