JUMP TO:

Meyer Vice President for Finance and Operations to Retire

June 19, 2012

Kristen joined the Meyer Foundation in 1999 as director of finance and administration, a position that was created in response to the foundation’s growth and increased complexity. Kristen was promoted to vice president in 2001, and is the first and only person to have held that position.

For the past 13 years, Kristen has managed the foundation’s investing activities, served as liaison to the investment and audit committees of the board of directors, and led the foundation’s technology and human resources functions. She also served as an advisor to the foundation’s longstanding Cash Flow Loan Program, which was suspended earlier this year.

During Kristen’s tenure, the Foundation has made significant progress across all her areas of responsibility. Despite the major economic downturn of 2008 and 2009, the foundation’s assets have nearly doubled since 1999, and major investments in technology have helped staff work more efficiently and allowed Meyer to launch its online application earlier this year. In 2008, Kristen led the foundation’s move to new offices, which allowed Meyer to shift to green space and to expand the conference facilities it offers to grantees.

In addition to her work within the foundation, Kristen has served in national and local leadership roles. She has served on the board of the national Foundation Financial Officers Group, and currently serves on the board of Trinity Washington University. In 2007, Kristen received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Nonprofit CFO of the Year Awards Luncheon.

“It has been an enormous privilege to work with Kristen for the past 13 years,” says Julie Rogers, the Meyer Foundation’s president and CEO. “Although she has not been highly visible to our grantees, her work has been the bedrock on which everything else rests. Kristen has created impeccable systems and policies that have kept the Meyer Foundation stable and well managed even in challenging times. She has also been a wonderful friend and colleague, and will be sorely missed.”
