Michael Harreld Joins Meyer Foundation Board

February 9, 2015

The board of directors of the Eugene and Agnes E. Meyer Foundation has elected Michael N. Harreld, regional president of PNC Bank for the Greater Washington Area, to a three-year term on the Foundation’s board, beginning in January 2015.

Harreld was appointed to his current position in March 2005 after a 36-year career with PNC’s predecessor, Citizens Fidelity Corp. As PNC Bank’s regional president for the Greater Washington Area, Harreld oversees retail, corporate, and institutional banking; wealth management; and community activities throughout the region.

In both Louisville and Washington, Harreld has held numerous civic and nonprofit leadership roles. He currently serves on the boards of the Federal City Council, United Way of the National Capital Area, Fight for Children, and the Economic Club of Washington, DC; and currently chairs the District of Columbia’s Workforce Investment Council.

“Mike Harreld shares the Meyer Foundation’s commitment to improving educational outcomes for children and increasing economic opportunity for everyone in our region,” says Joshua B. Bernstein, chair of the Meyer Foundation’s board of directors. “His community leadership on issues important to the Foundation, along with his finance and investment expertise, made Mike an ideal candidate for the board. We are honored that he has agreed to serve.”

Founded in 1945, the Meyer Foundation is one of the oldest and largest private grantmaking foundations focused on supporting nonprofits in the DC region. For more information, visit www.meyerfoundation.org.
