As we launch into 2020, I would like to share news about a few exciting changes to leadership and titles at the Meyer Foundation.
First, I am excited to announce that Aisha Alexander-Young and Karen FitzGerald have both been promoted to vice president roles: Aisha will serve as the Vice President for Strategy and Equity, with primary responsibility for leading and overseeing strategy development and implementation and racial equity, as well as our convening and advocacy strategies, which includes strategic communications. Karen will serve as the Vice President for Community Partnerships & Learning, with primary responsibility for leading and overseeing Meyer’s grantmaking and capacity-building strategies, as well as organizational learning and program evaluation. Together, they will co-lead a newly organized department at Meyer for Community Partnerships and Strategy.
Andrew Brown, has been promoted to Grants Manager. Since 2011, Andrew has served in a number of roles including, Grants Management Assistant and, most recently, Grants Administrator. In 2019, Andrew played a pivotal leadership role in our transition to a new grantmaking process and software. He is the current program chair of PEAK Grantmaking’s Greater Washington, DC Chapter.
We are very fortunate to have on staff leaders with deep experience, expertise, and talent to move the work of the Foundation forward and are excited about this new way of working together going forward.
Finally, in December of last year, our board unanimously voted to appoint Ryan Young to the board of directors. Ryan is the Chief of Operations and Organizational Sustainability at Community Change.
Ryan brings experience in a wide range of financial, investment, and operational areas and has an interest in the exploration of long-term sustainability planning. His career has focused on providing strong strategic leadership to organizations promoting positive change for national and international social justice issues. He has served in several capacities in domestic and international nonprofit organizations and has provided consulting services to organizations around development of strong internal control environments. We are thrilled that Ryan is bringing his expertise and deep commitment to social and racial justice to the Meyer Foundation board and our investment committee.
