In addition to the Meyer Foundation, Ms. Krumsiek serves on the boards of Pepco Holdings, Inc., the Economic Club of Washington, D.C., and the Federal City Council. She is a member of the Hall of Distinguished Alumni at Rutgers and holds an honorary doctorate from Georgetown University. She resides in Bethesda, Maryland with her husband, Bart Leonard, and their two daughters.

“Barbara will continue the Meyer tradition of superb board leadership,” said Julie L. Rogers, president and CEO of the Meyer Foundation. “We’ve already seen her strong leadership at work as chair of our investment committee. She is one of those rare individuals whose days are spent in the corporate world while being fully engaged as a dedicated volunteer in the nonprofit community.

Established in 1944 by Eugene Meyer, an owner and publisher of The Washington Post, and his wife Agnes E. Meyer, the Meyer Foundation is one of the Washington area’s oldest and most experienced private grantmaking foundations. The Meyer Foundation works to develop Greater Washington as a community by supporting capable, community-based nonprofit organizations that foster the well-being of all people in the region. The Foundation is especially concerned about low-income people and creating healthy neighborhoods, and seeks to promote the region’s diversity.
